- INM – INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH FOR SPECIAL MATERIAL PROPERTIES (English and German)
10:00 – 15:00 Uhr im Foyer des INM, Campus D2 2
Chemistry, biology, physics, materials science: Researchers from many disciplines cooperate at the INM to investigate, change and optimally use the properties of materials. We explain how materials store energy and desalinate water, how robots collaborate with humans, how cells react to nanoparticles, and which special material properties form the basis of the functionality of everyday objects.
You’d like to have break? Talk to scientists over coffee and cake in the Materials Café (with children’s corner) or relax before our next lectures or after the guided tour through our laboratories. We look forward to meeting you!
- KURZ ERKLÄRT: NEUE MATERIALIEN FÜR DIE WELT VON MORGEN (German)

INM-Wissenschaftler/innen erklären Materialforschung beispielhaft in vier anschaulichen Kurzvorträgen: Das INM – Neue Materialien für die Welt von morgen; Materialdetektive ermitteln in der Zwergenwelt; Wie Batteriematerialien zur Wasserentsalzung genutzt werden können; Gedruckte Elektronik, intelligente Materialien und andere Anwendungen von Nanopartikeln.
Anschließend können Sie gerne an einer Laborführung teilnehmen oder sich im Materials Café stärken.
- LABORFÜHRUNG (German)
11:40 – 12:10 Uhr im INM, Campus D2 2, Treffpunkt 1. Stock: Vor der Alten Bibliothek
Die Forschungsgruppe Strukturbildung des INM öffnet ihre Labore und demonstriert dort z. B. die von der Gruppe entwickelte elektrisch leitfähige Tinte, aktive Nanokompositmaterialien, deren Farbe sich über die Temperatur regeln lässt, oder transparente gedruckte Elektroden. Wer sich darüber hinaus über die Forschung am INM informieren möchte, ist an unseren Experimentierstationen im Foyer oder auch im Materials Café herzlich willkommen.
- IN A NUTSHELL: NEW MATERIALS FOR TOMORROW’S WORLD (English)

INM scientists explain materials research in four short lectures: The INM – New Materials for tomorrow’s world; Better batteries need nanomaterials; Innobot – the robot that cooperates with humans; Printed electronic, smart materials and other applications of nanoparticles.
You can join a lab tour afterwards or have a coffee in the INM’s Materials Café.

The Research Group Structure Formation of the INM opens its laboratories and demonstrates e.g. the electrically conductive ink developed by the group, active nanocomposite materials whose color can be regulated by temperature, or transparent printed electrodes. If you would like to find out more about research at the INM, please visit our hands-on stations in the foyer or have a coffee at the Materials Café.
