The automotive delegation of the Saarland made a strong appearance at the international motor show DIFA 2019 in Daegu, South Korea. INM was one of the exhibitors at the joint Saarland stand initiated by saaris – saarland.innovation&standort e.V. and GW Saar (Gesellschaft für Wirtschaftsförderung).
“Due to the good response to the Saarland joint stand at the IAA 2019, where the INM presented its multifunctional coated brake caliper on brake disc, we were also invited to the Saarland joint stand in Daegu with the same exhibit”, says Dr. Martin Amlung, deputy head of the Optical Materials program area at the INM. The surface coating developed at INM with its glass-like and glass-ceramic properties was met with great interest from Korean automobile manufacturers and suppliers. The coating reduces corrosion, wear, susceptibility to scratching or tarnishing and other oxidation processes and is also heat-resistant up to 500°C. At the same time, depending on the choice of color pigments, this special manufacturing process can be used to produce colors for decorative purposes.
In addition to INM, the Helmholtz Centre for Information Security (CISPA) as well as the companies paragon semvox GmbH and Carlsson Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH presented themselves at the joint stand.
Both the Saarland and the INM have maintained intensive contacts with South Korea for many years and intend to expand these further. Martin Amlung dares to look ahead: “The contacts we have been able to establish here are very promising. Therefore, we are also aiming to participate in DIFA in 2020”.
